Cleveland Yachting Club: Scoping out the venue

Founded in 1878, the Cleveland Yachting Club moved to its current location, Indian Island in Rocky River, in 1914. It’s an ideal venue for a Thistle regatta. The 9-acre facility includes:

  • Clubhouse with two full-service restaurants, two bars, indoor and outdoor waterfront seating
  • Center Isle complex with Olympic-size swimming pool, waterslide, kids pool, Topside Bar and Grill (with swinging seats), snack bar, party room, laundry facilities, men’s and women’s locker rooms with ample showers and hot water
  • Spar Loft picnic pavilion
  • Lawn for folding sails
  • Fenced playground
  • Gas dock with haul-out capability for large boats
  • In-water slips available upon request
  • 3 hoists, one with 2-ton capability
  • Dry sail area to accommodate 125 Thistles
  • Ramp for launching Lasers, kayaks, etc.

Regatta participants will receive wristbands for access to club facilities throughout the week. To purchase food and beverages (beyond the meal package included with registration), sign up for a guest membership card, which you can connect to a credit card.

ABOUT

The Thistle National Championship, presented by KeyBank, celebrates the 75th anniversary of one of North America’s most popular and competitive one-design sailing classes. The regatta takes place July 31-August 6, 2021 at the Cleveland Yachting Club in Rocky River, Ohio.
